Drugs get mentioned twice

I've been ignoring this diary for a few days now. On Friday I was feeling homesick again so I guess that was the main reason, but it got easier when I went out with M, her brother and her cousin on Saturday night. I gave her the translation that she had asked me to do for her - 2 pages of text about global warming, from English to Serbian. Doing it was actually pretty fun, and I realized that I'm not that bad at Serbian anymore. Well, could be a whole lot better but... you know, nobody's perfect. Anyway, M's brother and cousin were really nice although slightly on the lunatic side - like all Serbian guys. It's a bit like the fact that they all (heavy generalizing, I know) look like drug dealers if you squint a bit - a universal truth. They gave me a lift home with the cousin's old crappy car that was clearly about to fall into pieces, but nevertheless, I was grateful. Though we did get stopped by police because he was speeding and we all had to show our IDs and were asked if WE have ever been speeding, to which M responded with her most angelic-looking face "do we look like that kind of girls, officer?" with me batting my eyelashes as if I was about to fly away. We were clearly very convincing because the officer just winked and moved on. But that cousin behaved like he was on drugs or something. Seriously, I've never been that afraid in a car in my life. He defended himself by saying that it's all because of the uranium that the Americans bombed Serbia with in the 90s.

Anyway, it was a fun night. The plan is to do it again with some alcohol next weekend - just the thought of it fills me with such joy that it feels almost inappropriate. Almost. But not quite. Can't wait!
